Description
Offering you an elegant and rare antique lace evening dress. It is hard to find vintage from the early 1900's in spectacular condition. high jewel neckline with floral lace inset on the neckline. The bodice has vertical rows of lace with lace arrows and scalloped on the waist edge. Splendid! Sheer sleeves in a 3/4 length and more hand made lace on the cuffs. The skirt is lace netting with floral lace inset and of course the bottom of the skirt matches the bodice of the dress. Unfortunately I do not know the exact name of the lace other than to tell you it is exquisite! Please note One of the insets on the skirt there is approximately 1" that needs restitching to the edge of the netting, very delicate but can be done. This does not distract from the beauty of this piece. There are two tiny pin holes in the netting, (see pictures). Along the seam on the inside the dress is marked, labeled with hand writing M.Marshall, I do not have any providence on who that may possibly be. Also please not the seamstress of the dress did not line the hooks up properly in the back, but they all hook and once they are hooked for closure, there seems to be one extra hook! Gorgeous piece for Hollywood red carpet, a bride's wedding gown, or whatever your hearts desire. Please ask any and all questions before purchasing, all sales final.
In the above photo you can see where the dress has a little gap. It appears that the scallop lace overlays the sheer lace and at the waist it doesn't match up as for the hooks go. It appears that two hooks may have hooked at the waist but of course this leaves a little "bump" in the fabric. This dress was tried on in our local store and when discussing it with a client we thought maybe the new owner could has some type of silky sash at the waist? (like a sash belt). The following photos are close-ups of the "bump".
